Dr. O'Barr

Psychiatrist,MD
Dr. Allen Hamrick O'Barr (he/his/him) graduated summa cum laude with his Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) from Wake Forest University and his Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree with honors from the School of Medicine at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He completed residency in Psychiatry and fellowship in Psychiatric Hospital Administration at the Medical University of South Carolina. He has spent over 20 years as the Clinical Director of UNC’s Counseling and Psychological Services.​

Dr. O'Barr grew his private practice into Chapel Hill Psychiatric Services in 2021 upon realizing a growing need for psychiatry care in the community, specifically transitions of care for college health patients both entering and completing their higher education. He has developed collaborative relationships with clinical pharmacists and UNC Eshleman School of Pharmacy with the vision and mission to provide improved psychiatric care through collaboration. He provides enhanced medication services, pharmacogenomic testing, and team-collaboration to improve patient care outcomes and patient satisfaction.

Dr. O'Barr's professional experience includes college health, emergency psychiatry, addiction, precision medicine and ecopsychology.

Argelia Goodner
PharmD, CPP

Dr. Argelia Goodner (she/her/hers) is a clinical pharmacist originally from Tampa, FL and is a native Spanish speaker. She received her Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Pharmaceutical Science and her Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Eshelman School of Pharmacy.

​Dr. Goodner completed post-graduate fellowship training in community psychiatry at UNC Chapel Hill in partnership with Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS). She is passionate about educating patients about their medications and lifestyle modifications on their journey to wellness. She aims to provide patients with culturally informed care and understands patient trust is a priviledge. Her areas of interests are ADHD, depression, panic disorder, and disordered eating.

Mary Chou
PMHNP-BC

Mary Chou (she/her/hers) is a compassionate Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) hailing from Plano, Texas, with a commitment to providing holistic, patient-centered care. She received her Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Nursing from the University of Texas in Arlington and her Master of Science (M.S.) in Nursing from Medical University of South Carolina. She specializes in helping individuals manage ADHD, depression, anxiety, and PTSD, offering tailored treatment plans that prioritize each patient's unique needs and experiences.

Mary believes in building strong, collaborative relationships with her patients, empowering them to take an active role in their mental well-being. She has over 10 years of experience in youth mentorship--at University of Texas in Arlington, NC State University, Duke and UNC Chapel Hill--guiding 300+ college students in psychological wellness sessions and social workshops. In her spare time, she likes to test recipes in the kitchen, play one of her 15 instruments, and support underrepresented minority youth in her local community.
